Twilight tops US box office for second week
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 has continued its reign over the US box office for the second week running.
The
final installment of the vampire series starring Robert Pattinson and
Kristen Stewart as Edward and Bella Cullen raked in $43 million over
America’s Thanksgiving weekend. Figures include totals for Friday
through Sunday.
The haul brings the film’s two-week domestic total to over $226.9 million.
The latest James Bond film, Skyfall, held at number two with $36 million this weekend.
The 23rd installment in the Bond series stars Daniel Craig for the third time as 007.
The latest haul takes the film’s three-week total to over $221.7 million.
Lincoln
follows at third, with Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th President of the
Unites States helping to rake in over $25 million. The haul marks an
18.9 percent increase from the film’s $21 million earnings last weekend,
bringing its three-week total to nearly $62.2 million.
Animated
adventure Rise of the Guardians debuted at fourth with just over $24
million. The Peter Ramsey film features the voices of Chris Pine, Alec
Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher and Jude Law.
Adventure drama Life of Pi, starring Suraj Sharma and Irrfan Khan, rounds out the top five with a $22 million debut.
The
Ang Lee film tells the story of a young man who forms a connection with
a Bengal tiger while cast away after a disaster at sea.
